-     100-88 EXTENDED VID - SPANOULIS MVP - BIG 3 PT - BLOCK - DUNK - LAW 20 PT - TOP 5

-  VASSILIS SPANOULIS NAMED MVP OF FINAL FOUR SCORING ALL OF HIS 22 PTS IN 2ND HALF

1. Olmypiacos 100 Real Madrid 88 - The 2013 Euroleague final for Greek club Olympiacos started out much like the 2012 final versus CSKA Moscow, where Olympiacos found themselves down 19 points, before their dramatic comeback in the second half to become 2012 European champions, this time versus Spanish power Real Madrid, the Greek squad was down 27-10 after the first quarter, as Real Madrid was very hot from 3 point land and Mirza Begic was shutting down the lane with 4 blocked shots in the opening period, with 2 of the blocks being on Euroleague regular season MVP Vassilis Spanoulis, who again seemed out of rythm early in this game, just like he looked in the semis game versus CSKA Moscow. The Olympiacos leader went scoreless in the first half, but got big help from his teammates in the second quater until he found his 3 point stroke again in the hot second half Spanoulis would have. Olympiacos fought back in the second quarter cutting the Real Madrid lead to 41-37, as Acie Law, Kostas Papanikolaou, Kostas Sloukas, Pero Antic, Kyle Hines and Stratos Perperoglou all had a part in getting the champions back into the game. Kostas Papanikolaou started the comeback with another baseline drive and dunk, while former NBA guard Acie Law played his best game with Olympiacos, as he went for 20 points in 34 minutes, on 4-6 FG, 1-2(3PT), 11-13 FT, 5 assists, 5 rebounds, South Jersey forward Kyle Hines gave the Red squad another great game off the bench with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 3 blocks, on 4-4 FG, 4-5 FT, Kostas Sloukas gave the Red squad 11 points off the bench from the guard spot, on 2-4 FG, 7-7 FT and forwards Pero Antic and Stratos Perperoglou added 10 points apiece to help Olympiacos stay close, before Spanoulis got rolling in the second half.   Vassilis Spanoulis went into halftime down 4 points and he had zero points, but after gathering his thoughts, he decided to come out and look for his deep shot, as he hit 3 straight deep shots to give Olympiacos the lead. Spanoulis finished the game with a team high 22 points in 32 minutes, on 5-12 FG, 5-9 from deep, 7-10 FT and 4 assists and was named Final four MVP for the second straight year (The last player to be named MVP 2 straight years was Tony Kukoc). Spanoulis played like a true MVP in the second half, but in this Final Four the MVP could have been given to the entire team, as Law, Hines, Perperoglou, Antic, Sloukas, Papanikolaou, Powell, Katsivelis and Printezis all had a part in winning this Euroleague title.  Real Madrid was led in scoring by former NBA wing player Rudy Fernandez with 21 points in 31 minutes, on 5-13 FG, 3-6(3PT), 8-10 FT and was followed by former NBA PG Sergio Rodriguez with 17 points, while Sergio Llull added 14 points, but the Greek squad grab the repeat title, as Vassilis Spanoulis has become the king of European basketball since his one year run with the Houston Rockets in 2006-07, Spanouls has won the 2009, 2012 and 2013 Euroleague titles and won the Final Four MVP award in all 3 European titles, Greek fans and Olympiacos fans should thank then Houston Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy for not using the Spanoulis top of the key game, but rather sticking him in the corner like he was Kyle Korver and letting Luther Head, John Lucas Jr. and Rafer Alston pound the ball at the top of the key.  Oh by the way NBA teams, the 30 year old Spanoulis is a free agent, but no need to call if the plan is to stick him in the corner, EUROJOHNBBALL thinks he might go for a shot at a Three-Peat in Europe.

1. Olympiacos 69 CSKA Moscow 52 - The defending Euroleague champions from Greece win the rematch against CSKA Moscow, but this year they did not need a dramatic comeback like the 2012 final, as they were up 24-17 after the first quarter, 40-28 at halftime and 53-36 after the third quarter. Euroleague regular season MVP, Greek PG Vassilis Spanoulis led the Red squad all season, but in the semis game against CSKA Moscow, the PG had a tough day from long range, going 0-6 from deep and was 3-12 on FG's , 2-3 FT, for an 8 point, 5 rebound, 4 assist game, but Olympiacos won the battle of the boards 37-26 in the win. Kyle Hines played high school basketball in South Jersey and is listed at 6 foot 7 inches tall, but the hard working (Malik Rose type of Smaller forward), is more closer to 6 foot 5 , but the size difference against CSKA Moscow big men Sasha Kaun and Nenad Krstic, did not bother Hines who played 20 minutes in the semi game and scored 13 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had 2 steals, on 5-10 FG, 3-3 FT and was named player of the game. Hines also got help off the bench from Macedonian forward Pero Antic with 13 points in 22 minutes, while Greek forward Stratos Perperoglou also had 8 points off the bench in the Greek club win. CSKA Moscow will play FC Barcelona on Sunday for third place and were led by former NBA wing player Sonny Weems with 13 points, on 3-7 FG, 2-5(3PT), 5-8 FT and was followed by Russian forward Victor Khryapa with 11 points.

-      REAL MADRID GO TO SUNDAY FINAL WITH FELIPE REYES PLAYING LIKE PAST YEARS

-          74-67 EXTENDED VIDEO -   REYES VIDEO - RODRIGUEZ INTERVIEW - RUDY

2. Real Madrid 74 FC Barcelona 67 - The second game on Friday saw two Spanish ACB rival teams battle and Real Madrid grab the 7 point win to move on to play Olympiacos in the Sunday final. Real Madrid has younger and bigger names like Rudy Fernandez, Nikola Mirotic and Sergio Llull, but it was veteran glue-guy power forwad Felipe Reyes, who played like games from his past, leading Real Madrid with 17 points in 18 minutes, on 7-12 FG, 3-4 FT, 5 rebounds in the semis win. Reyes got help from Sergio Llull with 13 points, while former NBA PG Sergio Rodriguez added 12 points and 9 big assists, while Rudy Fernandez added 8 points in the win. FC Barcelona was led by Brazilian PG Marcelo Huertas with 19 points, on 7-15 FG, 3-7(3PT), 2-2 FT and was followed by Croatian center Ante Tomic with 18 points, 12 rebounds, but Real Madrid did a good job of holding FC Barcelona leader Juan Carlos Navarro to 9 points, on 3-9 FG, 2-4(3PT), 1-1 FT.

The Miami Heat are well rested and waiting for the banged up Chicago Bulls, with many NBA people saying the Bulls have little shot of defeating the defending NBA champs, or even winning some games to extend Miami without Derrick Rose in the lineup.   EUROJOHNBBALL says the little shot that Chicago has, is for 5 foot 9 inch fireplug lead PG Nate Robinson, to be in attack mode against the Heat just like 5 foot 10 inch PG J.J Barea was in the 2011 NBA Finals, where the Mavs upset the Heat after J.J Barea was inserted into the starting lineup, where an aging Mike Bibby had little shot at containing the penetration of Barea to get into the lane and cause havoc, finishing at the rim, or finding Jason Terry on kickout deep 3 point looks.  Nate Robinson had a great 34 point game versus the Nets and must be in attack mode early and often against the Heat and if Italian national team shooting guard Marco Belinelli keeps hitting from long range and French national team center Joakim Noah can keep playing out of his mind in the paint, along with the Bulls getting back Luol Deng and Kirk Hinrich in the next few games versus the Heat, the tough defense that Chicago plays could mean this series is far from a 4-0 sweep that many NBA people are talking about, but again the key is for Nate Robinson to attack the paint, just like J.J Barea did in 2011.
