-     JULY 29th- NBA RADIO -JERRY COLANGELO SAYS 2006 GREEK LOSS HAUNTS HIM

Sirius NBA radio interviewed the head of USA basketball Jerry Colangelo on the morning show hosted by Frank Isola and his Wed. co-host Mitch Lawrence and they started to talk about the three games USA lost in the 2004 Olympics, that led to Jerry Colangelo being brought in to try and fix USA basketball.  Most interviews on NBA radio never bring up the 2006 loss to Greece in the FIBA Semis in Japan, but today Colangelo brought up the loss himself saying he has nightmares of that 101-95 loss to Greece and it still haunts him, as the only loss he and Coach K have since both took over.   The fact that Jerry Colangelo said that to Frank and Mitch, it kind of sounded like he wanted to talk more about the loss to Greece, but their was no FOLLOW UP question, maybe to ask why USA had no idea who the best players on Greece were, as in the Post-Game press conference, coach K called Vassilis Spanoulis number 7 and Theo Papaloukas number 4.   Not knowing the other squad in a Semis game is just a BAD JOB of scouting by USA basketball and in the end they saw ZERO ACTIVE NBA players on the Greek squad ( Spanoulis & Fotsis did play one year each in NBA, but not at time of 2006 game) and thought it would be a 20 or 30 point win, but Jerry Colangelo and Coach K did not understand Greece had many NBA level players on that 2006 squad and 3 PG's that dominated the Euroleague after that game for a decade in Vassilis Spanoulis, Dimitris Diamantidis and Theo Papaloukas - LESSON LEARNED DO YOUR HOMEWORK.
