-       KOSTAS PAPANIKOLAOU HAS PLAYED & WON MANY CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES

The rumor going around the NBA is that PG Jeremy Lin will be traded to the Philadelphia 76ers for the upcoming 2014-15 season, so that the Houston Rockets can have enough money to try and sign free agent forward Carmelo Anthony.  The Rockets gave number 7 jersey to Carmelo Anthony in a billboard advertisment, the same number 7 that Jeremy Lin has worn with the Houston Rockets, COINCIDENCE ??

The 76ers have the money to handle the last year of the Jeremy Lin 8 million dollar contract, and if the deal goes through and they decide to keep Jeremy Lin early on in the 2014-15 season, the Sixers could see a new walkup attendance BUMP of about 1000 to 1500 Asian Americans that will buy tickets to watch Jeremy Lin play in Philly.   Talk show hosts in Philly call Jeremy Lin, just a backup to Michael Carter-Williams at the PG spot, but EUROJOHNBBALL thinks that if the Sixers keep Jeremy Lin, he would play many minutes at the shooting guard spot, because of his good 3 point stroke.

The rumor is that Philly wants a first round pick to come from the Rockets, in order to take the Jeremy Lin salary in 2014-15, but EUROJOHNBBALL thinks that the best move for the Sixers and GM Sam Hinkie to do, is ask for the Draft Rights to soon to be 24 year old 6 foot 8 inch, 230 pound Greek SF Kostas Papanikolaou, that the Rockets own.  Houston got the rights to Papanikolaou in a trade with Portland, after the New York Knicks drafted him in the 2012 NBA draft with the 48th pick in the Second Round.

-   Kostas Papanikolaou now plays with FC Barcelona in Spain and has two years left on his deal, with NBA buyout clause for both the 2014 and 2015 off seasons, but chances of him coming over in 2014-15 are very low, but since the Sixers are trying to put a championship roster together for the FUTURE, Papanikolaou is even better than a late first round pick from the Rockets, because Papanikolaou in a WINNER that now has won 3 straight titles in his young European league career and their was a late push to make him an NBA first round pick in 2012, as the OKC thunder and Miami Heat were thinking of taking him, after EUROJOHNBBALL (FIRST) wrote a piece and Yahoo Sports Top NBA writer Adrian Wojnarowski saw the EUROJOHNBBALL piece and asked around with his great sources and TWEETED out Kostas Papanikolaou was gaining momentum to be an NBA first round pick (IMAGINE THAT).    Like EJBB was saying Kostas Papanikolaou is a better piece to the Sixers CHAMPIONSHIP FUTURE, even more than a late future NBA first round pick, because Kostas Papanikolaou has won at every level and league in his European career, as he led the Greek U-18 national team to a GOLD Medal in 2008, another GOLD Medal in the 2009 European Championships in the U-20, he helped Vassilis Spanoulis and Olympiacos win the 2012 Euroleague championship and helped SHUT DOWN regular season MVP Andrei Kirilenko, while being perfect and CLUTCH on the offensive end, in a DRAMATIC comeback victory, then helped Olympiacos win their FIRST Greek A1 title in 2012 since 1997, another Euroleague title in 2013 with Olympiacos versus the Deep Real Madrid squad and in 2014, he helped his new FC Barcelona squad defeat Real Madrid in the DEEP Spanish ACB title,  in other words the Greek SF has TONS of championship games in his past and is not afraid of THE BIG STAGE MOMENT.   The Sixers took Dario Saric the most versatile offensive player in the 2014 NBA draft with their 10th pick, something EUROJOHNBBALL drilled on the homepage of the website for over a month,  Sam Hinkie and EJBB think the same on the direction of the future, with the Dario Saric pick and grabbing the rights to Kostas Papanikolaou would be the perfect move, as Dario Saric and Papanikolaou could both come over to the Sixers for the 2016-17 season and both players have led Greece and Croatia to Gold Medals in European titles, Papanikolaou winning back to back Euroleague titles with Vassilis Spanoulis and Dario Saric leading Cibona to the Adriatic league title as the MVP, as just a 20 year old player.    The only thing that would make the Sixers the new Kings of NBA Scouting of European leagues, would be to grab 19 year old Croatian SG-SF Mario Hezonja in the 2015 NBA lottery next season,     Imagine Dario Saric, Mario Hezonja, Kostas Papanikolaou playing with a healthy Joel Embiid, Nerlens Noel and Michael Carter-Williams at the start of the 2016-17 season, all EUROJOHNBBALL can say if all that happens is NOT ONE, NOT TWO, NOT THREE, NOT FOUR, NOT FIVE, NOT SIX - Championships.              Oh Yeah LeBron James is looking for a SQUAD on July 4th -  The TOO OLD Euro- Based Spurs just chillin with the NBA Title, Tim Duncan 38 years old, Manu Ginobili 37 years old in 24 days and Tony Parker 32 years old.

-

-   CROATIAN CENTER ANTE TOMIC 22 PTS 9 REB LEADS FC BARCELONA TO ACB TITLE

-                FULL GAME FOUR -  1st QT -  2nd QT -  3rd QT -  4th QT

1. FC BARCELONA 83 REAL MADRID 81 - EUROJOHNBBALL called Real Madrid the deepest squad in European basketball this season and early on it looked like the 12 deep squad was on a path to the 2014 Euroleague and Spanish ACB titles, after 25, 30 and 35 point blowout games being the norm every week.

The season ended much different than it started for Real Madrid, losing to Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Euroleague final, after being a 10 point favorite and the 2014 Spanish ACB season ended with FC Barcelona defeating Real Madrid 3-1 and becoming the new ACB champion.   FC Barcelona won the closeout game by two points and were led by Croatian Center Ante Tomic with 22 points, 9 rebounds in 30 minutes, on 8-12 FG, 6-8 FT  (Yeah GOOD MOVE Doug Collins, Signing Kwame Brown in 2012, when Ante Tomic was released by Real Madrid, it was the normal NBA move, by teams other than the Spurs (Greg Oden MIAMI), ASHAME Tony Dileo could not use his Good European Knowledge in Philly when Doug Collins was there making the picks, anyway the Croatian PAU GASOL and his good LOW-POST game of Ante Tomic was followed by Spanish SG Juan Carlos Navarro with 14 points, while American SG Brad Oleson and Slovenian SF Bostjan Nachbar with 10 points apiece in the win.    Some announcers in the USA on NBA radio have called Nikola Mirotic the best young player in Europe, but with the way he ended the 2014 season, the Best young player in Europe has to go to Dario Saric instead, as Nikola Mirotic again grabbed ZERO rebounds in the 2 point closeout game loss in 20 minutes of play, scoring 11 points, on 3-7 FG, 0-1(3PT), 5-5 FT and now must consider on going to the Chicago Bulls in the NBA, as minutes on the deep Real Madrid squad are not consistent and a change would be good for the once, young dominant and versatile PF.         Real Madrid was led by Spanish SF Rudy Fernandez with 13 points, on 4-10 FG, but only 1-5 from 3 point land, 4-6 FT, as Real Madrid only made 4-12 from long range, compared to 9-19 by FC Barcelona, Greek center Ioannis Bourousis followed with 12 points, 7 rebounds, while Spanish PF Felipe Reyes also added 11 points along with Mirotic.

-                        ITALIAN LEGA FINALS GAME SEVEN - JUNE 27th

-   TWOLVES 2ND RD. PICK ALESSANDRO GENTILE 18 PTS TO LEAD MILANO TO TITLE

2. EA7 MILANO 74 MONTEPASCHI 67 - EUROJOHNBBALL called Italian 21 year old SF Alessandro Gentile a young Andres Nocioni, in the way his body type is and the way he can shoot the deep 3 pointer, while also having the ability to attack the basket.  The Minnesota Twolves also liked the potential of Alessandro Gentile, as he was taken by Minnesota in the 2014 NBA second round with the 53rd pick and after leading EA7 Milano with a 23 point game 6 performance, on 10-18 FG, 2-3(3PT), 1-2 FT, the young Italian player led EA7 Milano in the deciding game 7 of the Italian finals, with 18 points in 28 minutes, on 6-10 FG, 6-8 FT and was followed by young 23 year old Italian PF Nicolo Melli with 11 points, 13 rebounds, while American SG Keith Langford added 9 points in the championship win.    Montepaschi was led by American PG Erick Green with 15 points, on 6-12 FG, 1-3(3PT), 2-5 FT and was followed by American SG Marquez Haynes with 14 points.

-        SARIC VIDEOS - MIX - MIX - MIX - MIX - MIX - MIX - MIX - MIX - MIX

1. Dario Saric - Croatian - Anadolu Efes - Turkey - 6' 10" - 230 - 1994 - SF-PF

EUROJOHNBBALL thinks that Dario Saric is the only player in the 2014 NBA draft that can control a game in the same way Dejan Bodiroga used to, as both shake big guys off the dribble from the top of the key, can post smaller players up, can stick the deep shots and Dario Saric can make others around him better, with the ability to play the Point Forward role, just like the Serbian Dejan Bodiroga did in his great European career. NBA GM's might regret not taking Saric 5 years from now, but with Saric leaving Cibona and signing a 3 year deal with Turkish, Euroleague squad Anadolu Efes, the quickest he could come to the NBA is after 2 years in Turkey, so the Sixers 10th pick would be perfect, as Philadelphia is building for the future and if they are patient, they could have a 6 foot 10 inch TRIPLE TREAT, that can control a game on the offensive end and at the age of 25 years old will be talked about as the VERSATILE guy that got away from NBA teams.

EUROJOHNBBALL knows if the Spurs had the 10th pick, they would grab the 20 year old Croatian and after two seasons of DEEP EUROLEAGUE PLAY, Saric will be even tougher and better than he already is. At only 20 years of age, Saric has many accomplishments, winning the U-16 Euro MVP in 2010 and leading Croatia to Gold, MVP of the Euro U-18 in 2012 and again leading Croatia to Gold, leading Cibona to a Croatian title in 2013 and named MVP along with winning MVP of the Adriatic League in 2014 and leading Cibona to the title also winning the MVP of the Final, NOT BAD for a 19 and 20 year old player versus older and mature players, TAKE NOTE NBA - 6 foot 10 inch TRIPLE THREAT only comes along every 15 years.

Saric averaged 16.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists in 32.9 minutes in Adriatic league this year and 19.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists in 31.0 minutes in Croatian A1 league play, along with 12.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists in 32.2 minutes in Eurocup play.

-                        NURKIC VIDEOS - MIX - MIX - MIX - MIX - MIX

2. Jusuf Nurkic - Bosnian - Cedevita - Croatia - 6' 11" - 280 - 1994 - Center

The soon to be 20 year old Bosnian Center moves well for his 280 pound size and some compare him to Montenegrin NBA center Nikola Pekovic of the Twolves.  EUROJOHNBBALL is not ready to put Nurkic in the BEAST MODE LOW POST GAME of Nikola Pekovic, but with the lack of good NBA centers, the Bosnian BIG MAN will get a good look from NBA teams and could go in the top 10 picks.  Nurkic has good hands and will start for an NBA team, if not the first season, the Bosnian will be playing big minutes by his second NBA season, EUROJOHNBBALL just hopes the team he goes to will actually feed the post and use him on pick and roll dives to the bucket, as most NBA teams now just JACK UP 3 PT SHOTS like the Houston Rockets SMALL BALL MENTALITY, who rarely gave Donatas Motiejunas a post-up play to use his good back to the basket moves, or when Motiejunas dove to the bucket off pick and roll, Houston guards JACKED UP DEEP SHOTS.   Nurkic can play, just hope he goes to a Spurs type of mentality that knows how to use NBA big men.

Nurkic averaged 11.7 points in JUST 16.6 minutes, 5.7 rebounds, 0.8 blocks in Adriatic league play, 11.5 points per game in JUST 15.5 minutes, 5.3 rebounds, 1.2 blocks in Croatian A1 play and 8.9 points in 14.5 minutes, 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 blocks in Eurocup play this season.

-            BOGDANOVIC VIDEOS - MIX - MIX - MIX - MIX - MIX - MIX - MIX

3. Bogdan Bogdanovic - Serbian - Partizan - Serbia - 6' 6" - 205 - 1992 - SG

EUROJOHNBBALL says Bogdan Bogdanovic is the most EXPLOSIVE scorer in the NBA draft from Europe this season and if NBA teams had concerns on the confident Serbian SG, his Serbian Finals performance might have SEALED ATICKET IN THE NBA FIRST ROUND, as he led Partizan to the KLS Title, scoring not one, not two, but THREE games of 30 plus points, something not seen in the European top leagues, with the team concept approach. Bogdanovic had a 33, 34 and a 36 point game and his ability to stick the DEEP 3 PT SHOT, while also being able to get his own shot and having 6' 11" inch length with his reach will be a selling point to teams in NBA that have concerns of Euros on the defensive end. Bogdanovic played well in the DEEP Euroleague this year and took over a game versus NBA LEVEL CSKA Moscow with 27 points to lead Partizan to the win.

Bogdanovic and Nik Stauskas, who is projected with the 10th pick by NBA Mock drafts, have similar games, but Stauskas has short arms and has trouble on defense getting a hand in the face of shooters and the UPSIDE of Bogdanovic might be better than Stauskas, but NBA teams are hesitant to take Euro players over guys they have seen in NCAA play, but with Spurs having 30th pick in round one, if he is there, the Euroleague based Spurs will snatch him up.

Bogdanovic led Partizan in Euroleague play with 14.8 points, making 37 percent on deep looks, 3.7 assists, 31.0 min and 14.8 points, 3.7 assists, 30.9 min in Adriatic league play and 16.1 points, 3.9 assists, 28.0 min in Serbian league play.

-                         CAPELA VIDEOS - MIX - MIX - MIX - MIX

4. Clint Capela - Switzerland - Chalon - France - 6' 10" - 225 - 1994 - PF

Projected with a late first round NBA pick in the 2014 draft by most Mock drafts, played in the French LNB league and competed in Eurocup play with Chalon and won most improved player in the French LNB for the 2014 season. Capela has good athleticism and is a good rebounder, but NBA teams will pick him for his potential future. Not the shot blocker that Serge Ibaka is and only shot 47.6 percent in Eurocup play from the FT stripe and 58.2 percent in French LNB play, but the Thunder might take Capela to help on the inside for future upside with the 29th pick in this NBA draft.

Capela averaged 11.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.1 blocks in 19.4 minutes of Eurocup play and 9.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, 22.0 min in French LNB play.

-                  GENTILE VIDEOS - MIX - MIX - MIX - MIX - MIX - MIX

5. Alessandro Gentile - Italian - EA7 Milano - Italy - 6' 7" - 230 - 1992 - SF

EUROJOHNBBALL compares Italian SF Alessandro Gentile to a younger Andres Nocioni, as Gentile has the same stocky body type, that will take the ball hard to the basket, while also being able to stick the deep 3 pointer. Gentile probably will stay in Europe, where he could get more touches and be a starter on big clubs competing for European titles, if Gentile did go to the NBA, of course the Spurs would be perfect, but must find the right team to fit his attack the basket style. Is a good shooter, but if he is stuck in the corner in the NBA, like most NBA teams do to Euros, then his best bet is to stay in Europe.

Playing in the Italian 2014 Finals with EA7 Milano and led them in game 6 with 23 points, 7 rebounds, on 10-18 FG, 2-3(3PT), 1-2 FT to force a game 7 against Montepaschi to be played on June 27th.

Gentile averaged 11.4 points, 2.4 FT in 24.5 minutes of Euroleague play and 11.8 points, 3.7 rebounds in 24.1 minutes of Italian league play this season.

6. Thanasis Antetokounmpo - Nigerian -Greek - NBADL - 6' 6" - 205 - 1992 - SF

Played in NBADL with the Delaware 87ers in 2013-14 after playing in Greece with 2nd division club Filathlitikos during the 2012-13 season. Has very good defensive ability and can make an NBA club that is looking for a defender on the wings, can jump with the best and the NBA open court game should be a perfect fit for him. Brother of Millwaukee Bucks 2013 NBA First Round pick Giannis Antetokounmpo and joining his brother on the Bucks would be great for both. Could improve his overall offensive skills, but defense is what will get him an NBA spot.

Thanasis averaged 12.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.3 blocks in 29.3 minutes per game with Delaware in the NBDL in 2014.

-        FC BARCELONA UP 2-1 ON 2013 CHAMPS MAKING 16-28 FROM 3 POINT LAND

1. FC BARCELONA 94 REAL MADRID 79 - EUROJOHNBBALL called Real Madrid the deepest squad in European basketball early in the season after blowing other squads out by 25, 30, 35 points on a regular basis in Euroleague and Spanish ACB play, but after getting upset in the Euroleague Final by Coach David Blatt, Tyrese Rice and Macabbi Tel Aviv, the defending 2013 Spanish ACB league champions are now down in the 2014 championship series 2-1 to rivals FC Barcelona after the 94-79 defeat today.   Veteran Spanish SG Juan Carlos Navarro led a 3 point barrage versus Real Madrid, as FC Barcelona hit on 16-28 from long range, compared to just 6-19 for Real Madrid and Juan Carlos Navarro led them in scoring with 19 points in 22 minutes, on 7-11 FG, 3-7(3PT), 2-2 FT and was followed by American SG Brad Oleson with 15 points, 3-4 from deep, Slovenian PF Bostjan Nachbar had 14 points, 4-6 from deep, Greek SF Kostas Papanikolaou 12 points, 2-2 from deep and Brazilian PG Marcelinho Huertas 12 points, 2-3 from deep and 8 assists in the win.

Real Madrid was led by Spanish Combo-Guard Sergio Llull with 15 points in 25 minutes, on 7-10 FG, 1-2 from deep, 0-1 FT and was followed by Greek center Ioannis Bourousis and American SG Jaycee Carroll with 13 points apiece, while Montenegrin-Spanish PF Nikola Mirotic added 11 points in 15 minutes, but grabbed just 1 rebound and Spanish SF Rudy Fernandez was held to just 7 points.   Nikola Mirotic and Rudy Fernandez will have to be more active in game four of the Finals for Real Madrid to stay alive and not lose both the Euroleague and Spanish ACB Final after the great start they had in both leagues.

-                            TURKISH TBL LEAGUE FINALS - GAME SEVEN - JUNE 19th

-       FENERBAHCE WIN GAME 7 BY FORFEIT DUE TO SECURITY ISSUES - A BAD ENDING

1. FENERBAHCE 20 GALAYASARAY 0  - The defending 2013 Turkish TBL league champions tied the Finals at 3-3, but decided not to show up to the Fenerbahce arena for game seven, due to the security concerns from the previous game five in the Fenerbahce arena and Galatasaray did not like the refs that were going to be involved with game seven. Anyway you look at it, a real bad ending to the Turkish TBL season with no game being played.
