Nuggets 87 Grizzlies 80- The Denver Nuggets got another big game this week from Greek center Kostas Koufos, as he helped the Nuggets grab their 11th straight win, leading them with 18 points, 16 rebounds in 31 minutes, on 7-9 FG, 4-6 FT, 3 blocks after his earlier 22 point 10 rebound game this week versus the Suns, on 10-11 FG. The Nuggets got outside shooting help from Italian national team forward Danilo Gallinari with 15 points, while the Grizzlies were led by Zach Randolph with 18 points, 18 rebounds and Spanish national team center Marc Gasol added 14 points, 7 rebounds. EUROJOHNBBALL- When you played for the U-18 Greek national team and you had a great tournament, you had big money offers from Greek pro teams to go straight to the pros out of high school, was their any thought of going that way instead of going to Ohio State to play college ball ?
KOUFOS- Oh I was definitely touted, but I made an obligation to Ohio Stae and I am a man of my word and I follow through to my obligation, to go to the Ohio State University and you know, I think I made a good decision, but at the same time getting offers from Panathinaikos, Olympiacos and so forth is an honor at such a young age.

EUROJOHNBBALL- As a guy who now has played on the Greek national team, do you remember watching the game in 2006 between Greece and the NBA led U.S.A players ?
KOUFOS- Yes, it was in Japan right, I remember staying up late and then going to high school with the Greek flag wrapped around me in school the next day and I was really proud for them to go that far in that tournament.

EUROJOHNBBALL- You played with another center on the Greek team, Ioannis Bourousis, do you think if he got with the right NBA team, or do you think at 29 years old, he might not want to come over to the NBA, because he will be a free-agent in the 2013 summer.
KOUFOS- Oh Definitely, he has an NBA style of play as well and he one of the best Greek players ever to play the game and where ever he plays, he will be successful.

EUROJOHNBBALL- What about a guy like Vassilis Spanoulis, who is another guy you played with on the Greek national team, when he was in the NBA with Houston and Jeff Van Gundy, in his one season, I thought Houston used his skill level wrong, as they had him stand in the corner, like a Kyle Korver type of spot-up shooter, instead of letting him attack the rim from the top of the key. Do you think the right system for a guy, is why some guys do not stay in the NBA ?
KOUFOS- Ah with Spanoulis, as well, he is a tremendous player and one of the best Greek point-guards ever to play the game of basketball, and the right situation and right opportunity for him, I think he would also be able to shine in the NBA as well.

EUROJOHNBBALL- When you played in 2009 and 2011 Eurobasket with the Greek national team was their any thought to play this past summer with them, because your size would have helped them when they played against the athletic Nigerian squad that hit the boards. The Greek squad had only Ioannis Bourousis as a veteran big man in the paint, is their any thoughts on playing with them next summer ?
KOUFOS- Well I mean definitely, it is an honor to play with the Greek national team, I am very proud to be Greek-American, but at the same time, I have to take care of buisness in the NBA and that is my priority right now, at the same time, I am not looking to far into the future.
